Look-alike Meter

I have only heard 1 time that Travis looks like me from someone that is a family member and knows Gavin and I both... Of course when you do not know both parents you see similarities in the one parent you do know, but it is so obvious that my child is an exact mini-me of my hubby. Well, minus the facial hair!
I saw this on a friends blog, and HAD to try it out!
You should too, its pretty amusing!

MyHeritage: Look-alike Meter - Geneology - Roots

I did it 2 times with different picture and it came out 6% each time...
I think he looks way more like his Daddy then 6%, but that's just me!!!!

To My Love...

Gavin,
I'm so glad our life isn't about perfection. Instead, we find happiness in everyday moments and real satisfaction in our home, our love and our family. Sometimes life can get a little messy and a little crazy around the edges. But that's okay. It's still wonderful... and there no one I would rather be sharing it with than you... AMAZING YOU!
I love you more the words!
xoxoxo

Happy Anniversary Honey!

***
I know of 2 other anniversary's and a few birthdays that are today!
What a great day!

And to stick to the day...
here are 13 reasons why I love this man:
1. his smile- not the one he fakes in pictures, but the one that is natural and happens daily when he looks at his life and likes what he sees!
2. his laugh... it is contagious, silly, sometimes sounds like a hyena (hahaha) but over all so great to hear!
3. his knowledge- talk about a jack of all trades! He can fix anything, grill like a master, plant anything and at least keep it a live for a few weeks (heehee)
4. he cooks.... No joke. The man is an amazing cook. He loves to look in recipe books and tweak them into his own masterpiece... good thing because I suck at cooking!
5. he plays- he can build the best lego towers, sculpt amazing play-doh art, make the best car, truck and airplane sounds and cracks Travis up with his ability to do anything with a bouncy ball!
6. he sings... not very well i might add, but he will belt it out anytime he knows the song playing. I love it! (Except Primus!!!!)
7. he watches tv- funny topic, but I have to add it becasue he will sit and watch all my silly girly reality shows and complain a little (and yes I get worn out with the complaining) but he will still suffer through the entire program with me!
8. he helps... I can tell you all that I just started asking for help and not expecting it to come naturally. He does a great job helping with whatever is next on my list and that is a wonderful trait!
9. he accepts- he has accepted all my crazy quirks and though they all probably drive him batty, he still loves me for me!
10. he is a dad... and an amazing one at that! Travis gets so excited when Daddy gets home! Gavin knows all the fun things to do and toys to play with, he also knows just how to distract him from a boo-boo and to calm him down when he doesnt want to put his clothes on. He is the best bed jumper referee and gets Trav just enough freedom with a wonderful watchful eye!
11. he smells- not bad HAHAHA, he has a certain smell. It is wonderful!
12. he sleeps... like a log, not even the house alarm will wake him up. But wathing him sleep is wonderful and so peaceful, it is like you see the inoccence of him when he was a child himself.
13. he lives- daily for this family! Without a complaint he works hard to provide for his family and allows Travis and I to live a wonderful life.

Love You Gavie!

Home Again... Giggity Gig!

We are back from an awesome weekend for all 3 of us!
We left at about noon on Friday and headed to Austin to drop Travis off with my in-laws!
We stayed for a bit and played until Travis got all involved with Nana and then we left!
While we were there we all made chalk outlines of each other....
Here is Daddy!
Here is Mommy!
Here is Travie!

Then Gavin and I left without one tear (THANKS GOODNESS) from Travis and headed to San Antonio. About an hour and a half drive from Gavin's parents house.

When we got to the hotel we were surprised to see a yummy plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a bottole of wine waiting for us with a note from the lady Gavin had spoken too about our trip.
How wonderfully nice!

The night we arrived we went to dinner at the restaurant in the hotel we were staying at. It was called Citrus and was UPPER FANCY!
It was a 3 or 4 course meal with items on the menu I could not even pronounce!
HAHAHAHA!

This is us at the restaurant... I look like a deer in headlights!

Saturday we got up, had an awesome breakfast and headed to Sea World!
BEST PANCAKES I HAVE EVER HAD!
We waited in line to get in for what seemed like an entire day. It was 100 degrees outside and super sunny... but we managed to survive and still have a wonderful time!
This was the water skiing and boat show...
They did so amazing stuff on that water!
Then we headed over to see Shamu!
I was in AHHHH of these whales. I can not believe you can train and animal that large! I was floored at the entire show, I do not think I blinked once!
I want to be a whale trainer now... LOL!
Then we headed over to the Beluga Whale show. It was super cool because the trainers and other performers did some amazing stunts with and without the animals!
After we sweat about 10 lbs off at that show we walked around got some yummy iced drinks and headed to the Seal and Sea lion area!
Their show was super cool, it was a story about fish getting stolen and trying to find who did it...
The seals are pretty awesome at performing! I was so impressed! And look at the big guy in the middle, doesnt he look like a sweet potato? LOL!

About the time that show was over a nasty storm had started blowing in... It was nice cause the weather dropped about 10-15 degrees! We headed over to the Shark Tank area and watched the diver feed the tropical fish and listened to a few minutes of info about the fishies... it was not as cool as Shamu for sure!

We headed back to our hotel trying to beat the storm and got showered and ready for the evening! We then headed out to the river walk and fought the heard of cattle (IT WAS PACKED) to get to the resturant we were eating at. Rio Rio it was called and it was huge. There were patios and rooms everywhere connected to this place. We wanted to eat outside becasue we were told there would be nice music... HA, all the heard was the booty shaking stuff from the club next door. Not to back, but singing "baby Got Back" when we were suppose to be toasting our ritas to a mariachi band was a little abnormal! Oh, well it was a great rita and good food!

We headed back to the hotel (the street route) and decided to take the night and vege out since we were going to have a long Sunday.
We sat and talked on our super cool patio and watched tv and crashed.

Over all it was a WONDERFUL trip!
Gavin and I had a great time even though we didnt stay out to all hours of the night parting, we did just what we wanted and that was to relax together!
Travis was spoiled rotten at Nana and Papas house.. pictures will come soon!

I can not wait to take Travis back to Sea World when he gets a bit older....
Hope you all had a great weekend!

T's First Day of Summer Camp

The night before th big Day we had Alana and Jackson (my niece and nephew) spend the night with us!
Travis was in heaven with the kiddos here! It made the night better for me since I had stuff to do and not worry about my kiddo going to MDO the next day!
We got up in the morning and all got ready. Travis headed outside with Jackson and saw a rabbit running across the street and up on the sidewalk we were on...
There goes the Rabbit...
There goes the kid after the rabbit!

The day went well... of course I teared up when I dropped him off and he cried and grabbed my leg. AHHH I got sweaty and sick and felt like I was going to throw up!
Thankfully I had some experienced moms comforting me! I headed out and had a busy day so I didn't have to sit and worry about him all day!
When I picked him up at 230, his teacher said he did really well after he stopped crying!
That he tried to steal his friends food at lunch and also didn't want to nap (So he is a grump-a-lump tonight!!! That did not surprise me at all, napping away from your norm is hard for most people! !
But he was great and she said he was able to communicate what he needed all day!
Good News!
We headed to Gigis after school to say good bye to my brother who headed back to Florida this evening and the kiddos headed back home with us!
Travis was so excited that the kids were spending the night again!

He was all smiles!
HAHAHA

In fact all the kids were HAPPY!

We ended the day with a extremely exhausted kid who has not slept all day and a little BLING!

YAY, its over! I am praying that Thursday will be a bit easier for us both!

Countdown to summer camp!

On Tuesday Travis is going to start summer camp. This is going to be his first experience with a mothers day out program... Every mother that I have EVER talked to says the time it is going to give me will be wonderful, I am excited about that. I am also really nervous to drop him off and go. I have been ALL about Travis for over 2 years now and this is going to be so different for us. I am totally planning on tearing up when I drop him off, I am hoping hey will wait until I get in the car though... so I am not the SAPPY mom! HAHAHAHHAAA! Thankfully Travis is going to school with a ton of my close girl friends kiddos and the kids are all Travie's friends and he knows them pretty well. So, I will have a great support system for my mommy emotions!
(Thanks in advance GIRLS!!!! LOVE YOU)

Man, I am so anxious already... WHY is this getting to me?
AHHHHH!

Wordless Wednesday Interupted...

If you don't laugh at this... then I have no idea how to make you laugh!
This may be a "you had to be there" story... but just imagine if you were an outsider looking in on these crazies (my family) how hilarious that would be!

This evening the 3 of us went to my mom and s-dads house for dinner because my niece and nephew had just gotten in from Memphis. We were all hanging out by the pool , having a great, relaxing afternoon and my niece comes out complaining of a bad tummy issue. She said she had to many peanuts and to much coke on the airplane and it made her gassy... Ok, Sure, Whatever!
My S-dad was a little floored that his 14 year old niece would be tooting in front of him. .. and not just little toots, HUGE ones. We all kinda laughed it off and went about our day until right before dinner.O noticed my mom was laughing so hard about something she was about to pee her pants. I of course was extremely curios and had to see what was up. Well, her friend had let her borrow her fart machine. You press a button on a little remote and it sets off this other piece with a nasty, loud fart. Everyone in the house knew about it BUT my nephew. He is 10... and extremely gullible! Right after dinner I had it and said the burgers killed my tummy and needed some gas X. He was floored that his aunt would toot in front of everyone... Then it was my nieces turn! She put the receiving (tooter) end in her pocket and I had the remote and the kids were playing basketball. Every time she would jump or bend over I would make it go off... My Nephew was about to die, he thought ever toot smelled and would run off. We were all about to come unglued. We did this for well over an hour, alternating from my niece, to Gavin to myself. At one point he even told us that all the farts sounded the same. IT was 830 when we left and he was still convinced his family had the worst gastro problems EVER! My niece is planning on keeping it up all night. What a RIOT!
Here is a video of them playing basketball... there were a few toots in the middle but the only one loud enough is at the end. Excuse my goofy voice and laugh... I always think I sound silly on record!

Our Trip to Austin....

What a weekend!
Travis did amazing on the drive there and back THANK GOODNESS!
Friday when we got to Nana and Papas house Travis was all ready to go! They have an amazing ENORMOUS backyard with tons of room to explore and that he did!
He explored so much he got 2 spider bites on his ankle... SCARY! Nana and I babied and pampered T and the bites until they were almost healed when we left! I tell ya Hydrogen Peroxide is a cure-all! Travis got spoiled with some wonderful attention and only the coolest out side toy I have ever seen! The Whirley Bounce... I think its called! SO FUN! To bad it has a weight limit that I exceed! HA! Saturday, Travis and Papa took a walk to the little airport in there neighborhood and then the older guys and I went to the gym...
well Gavin punked out cause he forgot his shoes so Marshall (my FIL) and I went! After nap time on Saturday we all piled in the truck and headed to this park (Zilker Park) that had a choo-choo train and natural swimming pool...
it was too cool! We all piled on the train that took us on about a 25 minute ride through the park... we passed the HUGE playground, a bridge over the river, a POT convention (REALLY) I mean people smoking pot right in the middle of the public park! CRAZY!
Travis was a little cranky since he was having to take Benadryl for his spider bites :( Poor guy! That night we ate some YUMMY crab and put the kiddo to bed and got in the spa! So wonderful! Sunday we all got up and played outside, went to lunch and had some birthday cake since Nana and Papa did not get to come to Travis' party in March.
We ended the trip with Travis getting a little hair trim from Nana... She does a GREAT job!

It was overall a WONDERFUL trip! We had a blast!
Thanks Nana & Papa for a GREAT time!

2 years pics & the arboretum...

Yesterday was one of the most beautiful days this year! We got so lucky since I planned going to the arboretum to get Travis' 2 year & family pictures done for a month or so...

The weather could not have been better, the sun was shinning and when we got there it was not too packed!
Here is our photographer in action taking pictures of Gavin and Travis.
They were leaning over the fence looking at horses and a wagon made from foliage.
TOO COOL.
There is a better picture of the horses below!

There were mostly Tulips out right now, time of year I guess. The air smelled like heaven and they were all so beautiful and bright!

Here are the Horses and Wagon again... How cool are they!?

The yellow and red tulips together were my favorite for sure!
I will for sure post a few of the professional picts when we get them!

Home At Last!

We got home about 145 in the morning... this morning. What a LONG day we had yesterday. The good thing is that Travis slept until almost 11 this morning... I was FLOORED!
California was beautiful and it was great to see the family... but traveling with a 2 year old to "events' was torturous for me! Long story and I really do not want to relive it... All I will say its I missed the best part of the entire weekend because my child would not stop screaming for 15 minutes so I could see my brother-in-law say "I Do" instead we were all dressed up watching Monsters Inc. in the hotel room :( That was just one of the wonderfully EVENTFUL experiences I had this weekend... We did have a few awesome times also... like when we let Travis sleep in the car and Gavin and I got to drive up and down highway 1 for a few hours! LOVED it! It was so chilly outside though so we just admired the ocean from the car windows! I will post some pictures later and tell more about the weekend!
Thank you for all your puppy support!
Hugs

RUNNIN'!

Tomorrow morning BRIGHT & EARLY at 630am is the first time I am meeting with my Team in Training group to do our first run together! 3 miles... woo hooo!
I just finished uploading some songs on my ipod that make me want to dance, hop, skip and even box, hopefully these will get me in the groove of pounding the pavement tomorrow!! HA!

Here is my list in case you are wondering:

(yes, I know some of you are probably shocked at the amount of Rap on this list, but it helps!)

I am a little anxious about tomorrow morning, I have been fighting allergies and some clogged ears (weird huh?!), I hope that does not make tomorrow harder then it should be!

I just keep telling myself that Thank GOD I can run... because there are people out there that can not do what I can. It makes this cause so worth while!

I will keep y'all posted on my progress :)
If you want to help me make a difference you can donate on my Team in Training site by clicking HERE.

I know it is hard to spare some extra cash on things like this... Let me tell you there was a point in my life that I thought people who asked for donations were just beggars. Then I opened my eyes to the possibilities that can come from just asking for a dollar to 2 from someone to help some sort of fund raising. I raised almost $500 when I did the run for Breast Cancer last year! Thats AWESOME!

The other day I looked at my stats and I am getting at least 200-250 hits on my site a day. If you all donated $2-$5 we would be adding at least $400 closer to finding a CURE for blood cancers!

Anything can help! ANYTHING!
On my Fund Raising site there is an option to donate $ Other, no set limit...
This means you can donate $2 or $5, dig in the console of your car... donate the $1.25 you find.
Nothing is too small.

Ok, I am done blabbing about my new venture!
Wish me luck!

A Lil' quicky @ the garage sale day 1-

What I learned today on the first day of our 2 day garage sale event....

1. Get up early and get ready early.. people wait outside the door for you to open.
2. Don't waste your time pricing anything, make it up and make it high... a professional garage sale shopper knows how to negotiate!
3. Watch your stuff... we has a 3 year old thief today. I offered her a free toy and she took of with 3 free toys. Not that I care, but dang... they taught her young!
4. It can be so entertaining... we had 2 people a man and woman walk up at the same time. They were like power shopping, what she picked up he wanted and visa versa. The man immediately went and picked up a curling iron, a hair straightener, and a massager and started his stack on the couch we are selling... this lady saw him and in the midst of creating a stack of her own grabbed the hair straightener and paid for her stuff. I never thought twice, for all I knew they were together. She took off and he looked everywhere for that straightener, and even drove down our alley and turned back to look again. Sheesh, he wanted straight hair :)
5. Make sure you have music playing, it makes it all seem a little brighter!

We did sale a ton today which was GREAT! I am sure we will have some more great stories tomorrow, I will keep yah posted!

Team In Training!

Along with my some girlfriends I have decided to take on a new venture!
With the help of Teamin Training we are all going to run a 1/2 marathon and on top of that save money to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I am so excited about this process! I have always wanted to be someone that can run in marathons. It really has been a dream of mine and now one of my dreams will come true. I start training on Feb.8th and my race is on May 18th here in Dallas! I will be posting updates and my progress throughout my training... and hopefully some pictures as well!

Raising money for blood cancers is something different entirely. I am thankful that I have never been closely impacted by blood cancers. I have known a few people who have been affected and done sites for families that have children who have cancer or have beat it! This is where I want to step in, there is not one mother, father, wife, husband, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, friend, that should have to feel the pain of seeing a loved one suffer... or suffer themselves!
We can make a difference!

Please help me raise some money for a cure!
Here is a link to my site for Team in Training.

Every little bit helps!

xoxoxo

I am elated!

Gavin and I were sitting on the couch about to watch a movie and he tapped me on the leg and said look at the back door. I was FLOORED to see a little white and creamy face with a bright pink nose starring at me! I jumped up and ran outside, it is freezing by the way! He was meowing but a little scared to get close to me. Gavin got some food and water and that was pretty enticing to him and he got closer! Finally after about 5 minutes I got to hold my long lost baby boy! He was cold and skinny... but not as thin as I thought he would be. He still has his collar on but no tags. I will be getting him one tomorrow morning! I brought him in and he was not interested in staying in, so he headed back out. Gav and I made him a bed in a long box to shield him from the cold air if he wont stay in tonight! I cannot tell you guys how excited I am to know he is ok. I had been feeling so guilty for having moments I wasn't thinking of him. Then he pops up! I can NOT believe this at all. It has been about 5 weeks I would say! I don't know if he will ever want to be an inside cat again, and that is ok with me. As long as I can see him occasionally to make sure he is ok, I will be fine with that! I wonder where he has been, what he has done, his adventures, where he has been sleeping, what he has been eating, if anyone has loved him, petted him, kissed his pink nose. I have been tearing up with happy tears. Sasha is so excited that he is back, she has been running around, looking outside at him and just going nutty, Stella on the other hand is pissed. When he came back in she growled and hissed at him and was just not to happy he was back.He walked around inside for a second and went back to the door so, we put him back out just in case he picked up any ikkiness on his 5 week vacation. He is meowing at the back door and it is breaking my heart, but we don't know what to do... I think I am going to put him in the garage. Tomorrow I will be calling to vet to get him checked out! Yay! Stanley is back!!!

Pontons....

Linzapedia describes as:
The most perfect way to cure a nose bleed... Well not so much cure, but block, absorb and save tissues and paper towels from being wasted!
The other night my niece, Alana (13) and nephew, Jackson (9) spent the night with us.
It is always fun when they are here... Alana and I just chill and do girl stuff and Gavin and Jackson play video games and hang out.

Jackson gets these awful bloody noses pretty often... he got one while he was here the other night and it was just an awful one. He used almost an entire roll of paper towels and it did not look like it was stopping at all. So, I went and got some JR. size tampons I had in my bathroom and told him that sports guys use these to absorb bloody noses. Also, that Gavin did too... that seemed to make this all seem ok.
We put the tampons in his nose and immediately he seemed less stressed, his blood pressure went down and what was left got absorbed and it was all perfect!

Alana and I were laughing so hard we were about to explode.
He looked like a walrus!

The next day when I took the kiddos back to my parents house he was trying to explain these things to Paps... He explained that Pontons were used for bloody noses and that he was going to HAVE to tell his school about these. OMG, my brother is going to shoot me in the head!
Paps and Gigi were just as hysterical about the Pontons as Alana and I were, in fact Paps has been referring to them as pon-pons and Jackson was getting a bit defensive over his new nose bleed plugs!
I had given Jackson a little baggies with some in there... the little jr. tampons in light purple wrapping with flowers. He still didn't question it.
He was pumped!Isn't he a cutie!

HAHAHAAAAAA
I cant help but crack up about this!
I know I am going to get it back 10 fold when Travis gets older!

2008 resolutions & more!

We hit 2008 with a bang... all 3 falling asleep together sick in bed at 9pm, Travis waking up starving... so at midnight we were sharing a nutra-grain bar and watered down grape juice. A far comparison to how we would spend New Years Eves a few years ago.. drinking all night, crashing at a friends house and picking up Wataburger taquitos on our long, hung over trek home the next morning. Parenthood sure changes things!
Right now I am listening to the shear death cry of my almost 2 year old that has been super spoiled by sleeping with his Mommy and Daddy numerous times this Holiday break, from traveling to being sick with a fever... I am a sucker for a "Mommy, Bed, Please" with the big brown eyes and crocodile tears. Not tonight my dear child, Mommy needs to sleep without you... and SLEEP is the big word. When he is in bed with us I am like a one eyed monster (Thank you Stinky Face) I keep one eye on him and one eye closed thinking that is will help add up top at least half a nights worth of sleep. I am paranoid he will find a way to plop off the bed or be completely tangled in the 800 blankets we have on our big ole bed.

What do I hear now? Where are the screams?
Nothing.....

(cue the shushhhhh's)

Maybe he is finished with the torture cries to attempt to get mommy back in his room.
Fingers crossed.... and silence fills the air!
WOOOHOOOO!

I am currently hating this new year.
I didn't sleep last night, woke up still sick, stubbed my toe, missed the cotton bowl because of this crap cold, the Hogs lost, I dropped about EVERYTHING I touched today, aunt flow stopped by (tmi-sorry!) just not a good 1st of anything...
Can we rewind PLEASE??!!??!!
Who do I write for the extra large day rewinder?
Any Ideas?
I will share I promise!

I have about 1,000 resolutions Like I do every year...
I am only going to share the ones I have a feeling I can accomplish...

(and the cries are back.. DAMN-it)

My top 5-2008 resolutions are:
In random order!

1. Run... like in miles! With or without the kiddo or jogging stroller.
I love to run, I need to do it!
2. Eat Healthy, Cook Healthy, Snack Healthy
I started this before the Holidays when I say the nutritionist, even though I never totally fell off the wagon, I need to start again!
3. Think of myself a bit more...
This is a must, after being sick since Christmas Eve and still feeling like poop...
I think I should have started this one earlier!
4. Cook more.
I hate to cook... any suggestions?
5. Loose more weight
I am over half way to my goal!
I can do it!

***
Wow Travis is making me feel about an inch tall.
This is really more torturous for me then him.
I never believed in letting my kid cry it out, but I also never thought he would get addicted to sleeping with us!
Don't you hate how kids can make you feel like that?
Mommy, Momma, Mommy, Momma
Cry, Scream, Cry, Scream
AHHHHHH!

Really, this sucks!

Stella is looking at me like I am the worst woman in the world.
I guess cats have those mommy instincts too.

Speaking of cats, I thought Stanley would come back for Christmas, New Years...
Nope, not even a glimpse of him.
We were driving home the other night and thought we saw him.
I pulled over, Gavin started screaming out of the window, and it wasn't him... I knew from the second I saw that other cat. He was more orange and not my Stan.
Still made my heart jump for a second!

Travis just took a half a second break.
I let Sasha in from peeing... tripped over a toy, turned on the tv since we have his video monitor through the tube I can watch this fit being thrown and now I am back, using this post as therapy from torturing my child.

How can a kid that has been sick for over a week, hasn't slept well at all jump in his bed screaming for this long. I mean it seems way longer then it has been, but this is awful.
All I can hear now is
Momma, Momma, cough, cough, cry, sob and bed springs...

And he collapsed, still sobbing Mommy but he isn't jumping...

I love this video monitor!

So, back to the 2008 stuff...
Plans so far this year.

~Becoming a certified Strollerfit instructor (SOON!!!!)
~ Travis 2nd Birthday
~ Tons of friends babies being born.
~ Going to Colorado to visit one of my best girl friends :)
~Wedding in March (my bro-in-law)
~Going to San Antonio for our Anniversary
Thats about all I can think about right now!

...and a HUSHHHH falls back over the air..
I am going to take this opportunity to bow out for the evening!

Good Night, Sleep Tight!

Please tell me the first day of the new year is not a look in to the future of the entire year.
If so, maybe I should start praying for a miracle!
