Today I had a HIDA scan for my gallbladder...
( Is this the answer they need? Who knows!!!!)

A hepatobiliary iminodiacetic acid (HIDA) scan helps evaluate the function of the gallbladder and the bile ducts. Doctors may also refer to this procedure as cholescintigraphy.
In preparation for a HIDA scan, a dye or other chemical (radioactive tracer) is injected into your vein. The tracer travels to your liver and then into the bile ducts. A special scanner placed over your abdomen tracks the movement of the tracer through your biliary tract and makes images of the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts.
A HIDA scan is used to diagnose:
- Obstruction of the bile ducts, such as due to gallstones or rarely, tumors
- Diseases of the gallbladder
- Bile leaks
It was the strangest test I have ever had done...
I got there and immediately got an IV just stuck on my rm, nothing was put in it yet. I laid on a flat table with a thing that looked like a flat x-ray machine over my abdominal area and a video screen in front of my face. Then they injected the dye into my IV. I was so strange, I could immediately see little star looking things all over the video screen in front of me. The the lady in charge told me all the places where my organs were and that the bright dots would all gather in my liver. I had to sit there for an hour and let the dots all gather in my liver... this was to simulate the bile in my liver that goes into my gallbladder. Then after an hour they gave me an IV drip with this chemical that would simulate that I had just eaten something and my gallbladder would have to go to work. I had to sit and wait for another 30 minutes while constant images were taken of what my gallbladder would do with this chemical. It was suppose to contract and sent the "bile" out into my intestines. I could watch all of this happen on the screen but really had NO clue what was going on. At the end of the 30 minutes the dye was all in my gallbladder, stomach and intestines. It looked like I had millions of little bright stars floating through my digestive track... really cool, but extremely nauseating!
About 3 hours later I was finished and ready to head home!
I have no clue when the results will be in, I am so hoping nad praying it will be soon and have some sort of result...
I am so sick of hearing " all looks good, who knows what is causing your issues??"
I of course do not want BAD news I just want SOME news!
I will keep ya posted!
