104.... WHAT!

Travis is sick AGAIN!
It is like 1 of the 3 of us are sick every week... is it the time of year or do we need to find some sort of immune system replacements! SO FRUSTRATING!
We went to the Doc yesterday and he said Travis' glands are swollen but not strep and he either has the beginning signs of strep or of course... the most common answer these days, a VIRUS!
ARGH!
I had Travis sleep with us last night because fevers scare me to death!
At 3 am we both woke up and his fever was 104.4... I flipped and took it like 10 more times thinking the thermometer was crazy. You can imagine how mommy brains work at 3am after no sleep and a sick baby! I thought I was really seeing things. Travis was acting ok, delirious thought. He was talking about all sorts of weird things... Like a bird eating Gigi's house and a man in the garage. In fact a bird (or squirrel) is eating my moms house and we showed Travis MONTHS ago and he has not ever gotten it out of his head. But to talk about at 3 in the morning was weird to me. He was just talking and talking like nothing was wrong. Thank goodness he was because if he were acting the least bit strange we would have been at the ER.
I do not know the rules about a high fever. When are you suppose to go to the ER?
After some Motrin a cold towel his fever went down to about 101 and we were able to go back to sleep... Long night though!

I am just so burnt out with all the sickness everywhere!
I mean out of all the people I talk to regularly at least 1 or 2 of them are sick every week.
Its been a rough season!

BLAH!

Toddler Tales #4

Travis has been adding new words to his vocabulary daily and even putting 3 and 4 words together... It amazes me constantly that he is is starting to hold conversations with me.
***
Let me give you a little background before I tell you the rest of this story!
Obviously I have 2 cats so therefore I have kitty litter to change.

I HATE changing the kitty litter and have my set days to do it so I don't forget since I have before and it makes the garage super smelly.
Yes the litter is in our garage... wanna see what an awesome kitty bathroom Gavin made for the furry two? Click Here!

***
In the last few weeks with me being sick and my mom coming over the litter has not been cleaned like normal so I am sure mom had said a few words about it... and did not realize that Travis will repeat EVERYTHING!
Or maybe she wanted him to repeat it...

The other day Travis and I were getting in the car heading to my moms house and we walked out in tot he garage and Trav goes "Stink, Clean it"

WHAT DID YOU SAY BUDDY?
" Stink, Clean it Mommy"

BUSTED Gigi, I know Travis did not think of that himself!!

I put him in the car and cleaned it out, trust me it was not that bad since Stanly (PC) has been squatting in the grass like a dog recently!

We head to Gigi's and I asked her if she had said something about the littler to Travis.
Yep, She had.
She blushed a little and admitted she was BUSTED!

One good thing about a 2 year old... not many secrets are kept tight lipped!

Piss Cat Chronicles

Stanley has for sure been voicing his opinion recently about being outside...
I guess his 5 week vacation from being a normal indoor cat aroused his wild side!
So, he will go to the back door like A dog and meowing until you let him out, and if you do not let him out he will squat and pee at the door. Trust me, taking the chance and letting him outside has been my choice since I do not want cat pee all over my house. What a stubborn animal, huh?
Last night he went out with Sasha, it is funny because if you watch him he will walk right out to the grass and squat and pee just like Sasha does... he does not dig and bury anything outside like he would in litter. He has a breed confusion I think! So about 20 minutes after I let them out Sasha was ready to come back in, I am guessing they were playing out there cause Sasha was a bit out of breath, probably from chasing him. Sasha scratched on the door, I let her in and Stanley was not out there so I figured Sasha chased him under the deck and within a minute or so he would be meowing at the back door like he does when he wants back in. 5 minutes pass, no Stan... then an hour passes and no Stan. I was for sure he decided to spend the night out so I got ready for bed and thought I would check one last time, and he was there. I let him in and he ran right to his water bowl and drank until it was almost empty, then he came into my room and just up on bed with me and decided he wanted to lay on the magazine I was reading... Why do ALL cats love to mess and lay on paper? He got right in my face and smelled like Tuna... What? I don't give my cats Tuna! You know that smell, right? It is hard to miss! So, I am guessing Stanley as made some friends somewhere close and they are giving him Tuna. Shoot, if I were him I would want to sneak out for that kind of snack also!

Maybe I will post something on our HOA site and see who the tuna neighbor is!

Toddler Tales #3

Pang-nk:
Travis work for Painting!
Gavin and I have been in the LONG process of painting his room upstairs 3 different colors, 2 of which require multiple coats. (dark blue & red) And I have been painting a large airplane to hang above his bed... so painting is what we have been working on for the last week!

Travis REALLY wanted to paint today. HA! He is a mess to begin with so painting in the house is not my idea of a good time... so I got a little cup of water and a paint brush and showed Travis how to paint on his cardboard house. The fun thing is that when cardboard gets wet it changes colors, so he thought he was really painting.

I can NOT say this was completely my idea... my MIL told me a story of when her kiddos (Gavin & his 3 siblings!) were young. She would get a bucket and some basting brushes and send the kids out to the fence to paint. Just like the cardboard, the wood would darken up to make it look like they were really painting! I will for sure be remembering this for things to do when Travis get older... or even when it gets warm outside!

A Boy & His dog!

Lately Sasha, my 8 year old Akita has been driving me absolutely bonkers. She hovers around Travis when he eats, she breath her hot air on his leg while he is at the table and she just thinks that anytime I make a snack it is for her. AHHH! I guess all dogs that live with toddlers get the perks of food being thrown or dropped or even licked and shared (EWWWW!) but she is driving me NUTTY with this behavior. Its like now she expects food all the time. I try to put her outside when Travis eats or lock her behind the gate in my room or the front area but Travis get so upset with this. He is in LOVE with her... they are soul mates. He shares his night-night with Sasha and lets her lay on it and love on it. She lets him cuddle with her when she is sleeping on the couch. He will walk up to her and hold either side of her face and kiss her nose and she will lick him back. Yes the germ freak in me comes out occasionally but most of the time its a little lick between his eyes...
They have even created their own game of get the night-night. Sasha will pick Travis' night-night up off the floor and shake it and he will grab it. She tries to get him to play tug-of-war but he doesn't get it yet. He will take it back and throw it at her... she will run around and shake it up again. They love it!As much as she drives me crazy and I always worry she will snap at Travis when he hangs on her or gets to close... She has been the best friend to him. She really does a great job tolerating Travis and letting him love (in a toddler way) all over her!
What a pair!

Senseoooo-how much I love you!

Venti skinny Vanilla Cappuccino with 1 Splenda Please!

You mean I can get this drink without having to drive anywhere or even get dressed.
Oh Yeah! SIGN ME UP!
(My Hubby is going to love the drop in my Starbucks bill now that we got this awesome new machine in our house!)

I was like a kid in a candy shop with the box arrived with my NEW Senseo in it...
Not to tell you I want to kiss the person who thought of me when this review came up!
LOVE YOU NICHOLE

YAY!

This little guy makes single serving cups of coffee.
You and your hubs don't agree on one flavor, this is perfect for you!
Gavin loves dark coffee, I love girly Vanilla-y, sweet stuff! We both can have exactly what we want in just a few minutes.
So, to tell you how fast I am going to write the step by step process it took to make my cup this morning:
1. fill up the water tank to line & put it back on the Senseo
2. press the power on button to let it all warm up
3. grab my coffee pod out of the bag and put it in the pod holder.
4. get a mug out of my cabinet
5. put in under the spout and press 1 cup of water or 2.
It was that easy and fast!

I added my 1 package of splenda and a little skim milk and it was perfect!

Being so thrilled about this new gadget that is sitting all yummy looking on my counter top, I went to Target where I do most of my grocery shopping to see what flavors were offered!
I was shocked to see so many different types of Senseo Pods.
Dark Roast, Medium Roast, Vanilla, Decaf... just to name a few.

I would WITHOUT A DOUBT recommend the Senseo to anyone who loves coffee.

I have not tired them yet but Senseo also offers Tea, which it nice when you are sick or wanting something a little different in the mornings... Shoot you can make a cup and add ice for some yummy ice tea! HA!
Check out all the flavors HERE!

If you have any questions about the Senseo comment with them and I will let ya know!

To learn more and see what all Senseo has to offer click here to be magically taken to their site!

Toddler Tales #2

~Cina-mina-mon~
Yes, Cina-mina-mon.

What you ask is that?
Well, it is a (almost) 2 year old asking for cinnamon to put on his toast.
My Mom created a cinnamon-ster! Travis LOVES cinnamon toast.. LOVES it and when he is sick or refusing to eat it is a sure fire thing to get into his belly!
When I was little my mom got this cinnamon shaker thing from some sort of party like pampered chef and it was the "cinnamon/sugar shaker" at my rents house. When Travis was able to eat cinnamon toast my mom pulled it out and would make his toast, then she would let him help her shake it, then she would let him sprinkle it on his toast by himself. Ok, not the best thing for a toddler to have but she is Gigi (grandma) and they are suppose to do things parents would immediately approve of. Thats why grandparents are so darn cool! Right? Right!

Today I made him some cina-mina-mon toast for breakfast... 2 pieces to start. I toasted them, cut the crust off, cut the bread into finger size strips then sprayed them with butter and handed them off. I got the almost finished cinnamon spice jar and added splenda instead of sugar to the remainder of space... which was like over 3/4 of the jar. So, splenda makes the cinnamon mixture thicker then regular cinnamon or cinnamon/sugar together. Sheesh are you tired of reading Cinnamon? Its not a fun word to type either... HA
So, Travis goes through his 2 pieces, sprinkle then bite, sprinkle then bite then they are gone. Then looks right at me like I starve him daily and says "mor cina-mina-mon toassst PEAS"...
I pop 2 more slices into the toaster and go about the same routine.
Crust, Cut, Butter.... hand off.
He was so excited and he again went sprinkled and bite, sprinkle and bite.
The next thing I hear is UHHHHOHHHH Mommy, I look over at him and the cina-mina-mon is all over the table, all over the kid, ALL over the floor, toast, DOG and his mouth.
He has peeled the little lid with the holes off and went to sprinkle it on his toast. Ha, he got more then a sprinkle. He got a dang mountain. Best part is... After the UHHHH OHHHH rang through the kitchen, he shoved the finger size piece of toast with the mountain of cinnamon/splenda into his mouth and sneezed.
I bet you can just imagine the poof that came from his mouth.
At least cinnamon smells good!
But Cinnamon/Splenda mixed with spit is a sticky, gooey mess!

Oh man, You gotta love the little guy!

Saturdays Training!

Tyne, Joana and I ROCKED the 3 mile run!
It was so fun... COLD , but FUN!
I was a little disappointed in the "training" aspect of the morning. I really thought they would have warmed us up at the beginning or stretched us out at the end. But overall, everyone there was so fun and happy! You could tell everyone was pumped to be doing it for a reason! 2 of our team heroes were there. 2 people that have survived from one of the blood cancers we are fighting to find cures for. It was amazing to see them cheering us on, telling their story and ever walking the miles.
I can not wait to enhance my time and mileage.
It was FUN and so rewarding!

Now I want all the gadgets to go with running...
( Joana has them all, I am jealous!)
a Garmin Runner
Ipod/Nike Sport kit
Sheesh all the fun things

RUNNIN'!

Tomorrow morning BRIGHT & EARLY at 630am is the first time I am meeting with my Team in Training group to do our first run together! 3 miles... woo hooo!
I just finished uploading some songs on my ipod that make me want to dance, hop, skip and even box, hopefully these will get me in the groove of pounding the pavement tomorrow!! HA!

Here is my list in case you are wondering:

(yes, I know some of you are probably shocked at the amount of Rap on this list, but it helps!)

I am a little anxious about tomorrow morning, I have been fighting allergies and some clogged ears (weird huh?!), I hope that does not make tomorrow harder then it should be!

I just keep telling myself that Thank GOD I can run... because there are people out there that can not do what I can. It makes this cause so worth while!

I will keep y'all posted on my progress :)
If you want to help me make a difference you can donate on my Team in Training site by clicking HERE.

I know it is hard to spare some extra cash on things like this... Let me tell you there was a point in my life that I thought people who asked for donations were just beggars. Then I opened my eyes to the possibilities that can come from just asking for a dollar to 2 from someone to help some sort of fund raising. I raised almost $500 when I did the run for Breast Cancer last year! Thats AWESOME!

The other day I looked at my stats and I am getting at least 200-250 hits on my site a day. If you all donated $2-$5 we would be adding at least $400 closer to finding a CURE for blood cancers!

Anything can help! ANYTHING!
On my Fund Raising site there is an option to donate $ Other, no set limit...
This means you can donate $2 or $5, dig in the console of your car... donate the $1.25 you find.
Nothing is too small.

Ok, I am done blabbing about my new venture!
Wish me luck!

Toddler Tales #1

Travis, oh does this kid know way to much for being (almost )2.
He has started this new thing of throwing things down the stairs and throwing things over the half wall from upstairs to down. He will come up to me afterwards with this sweet, innocent look and say "Mommy, ball fall down" or "Mommy, night-night fall down"...
We will go get the thing he wants and he will do it again.
But... he will NOT do it while I am watching him. He will sneak around until I turn my head and he will throw it over. So, I finally caught him throwing it over, and he knew I saw him.
He walked up to me, sat in my lap, turned to me and said "opps mommy, fall down. get it please"
WHAT!
As much as I wanted to finally get onto him for throwing his night-night or toy over the wall to the down stairs and attempt to make it stop and he totally got me with "PLEASE".
What a little manipulator!

Words of Wisdom??? Oh I pray!

Yes, this is the new book in my life! Toddler 411... I am sure I don't even have to explain because all you parents reading this are probably either thinking about doing a search on this book, going straight to the book store or have one similar on your night stand! I'll help you out... here is the link to their site! CLICK HERE!
The reasoning behind my new purchase?
Travis is 2, well just about if you go by age but has been acting 2 for a while now. This book says the "terrible 2's" go from about 18 months to 4 years... SHOOT ME NOW!
I have done time-outs, compromising, bribery, distraction, begging, crying and yelling.
He will scoot to me or out of time-out since I tell him not to get up, he will try and compromise but 2 seconds later forget the conversation we just had, he takes his bribe and continues on his war path, he does not get distracted easily AT ALL, he laughs when I beg and yells back at me.
I NEED SUPER NANNY
hahahahahahaaaa!
So, I am ready to figure out what kind of dicipline will work for this short man and get it in the works!

I am going to have to do a Tuesday Toddler Tales...
all the FUN things my wonderful Toddler does!
The good, the bad and the Ugly!
Feel free to steal the banner, link up and tell your toddler tale!

You can also see this topic on MamaVice...

PC is at it again...

Stanley... PISS CAT, peed on our stuff again this weekend. 2 baskets of clothes and I am livid about it.
He had been doing so great since he came home and I have been keeping their little extra fresh ( I HATE CLEANING LITTER!) and he peed on our stuff again. ARGH! Besides really missing him when he was gone, I didn't miss the peeing on everything. We just got our carpets professionally cleaned by this amazing company that actually tests every stain for its PH and that is how they know what to put on it to clean it. Our carpet hasn't looked this good since we moved in! If he were to pee on the carpet I would be HOT. I don't know what to do? He had been itching to get back outside the past couple of days, and when he ran out after Sasha I didn't try my hardest to catch him. He immediately ran under the deck. T and I went to Strollerfit and when we came home he was still meowing under the deck. I Have checked 2 times since I have been back and he is still answering my calls...
ARGH! He is just such a pain in the booty!

Fun Facts....

FYI!!!.....DID YOU KNOW?
(you know when you meet someone who seems like they know all the cool little tricks about everything... here are a few you can flatter your friends with... heeheehee)

Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to pick the little "stringy things" off of it. That's how the primates do it.

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking

Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.

To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.

For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.

Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.

Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simple chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream.

1. Reheat Pizza Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove. Set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.

2. Easy Deviled Eggs Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.

3. Expanding Frosting When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.

4. Reheating refrigerated bread To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

5. Newspaper weeds away. Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

6. Broken Glass Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily.

7. No More Mosquitoes Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

8. Squirrel Away To keep squirrels from eating your plants sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.

9. Flexible vacuum To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

10. Reducing Static Cling Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and -- ta da! -- static is gone.

11. Measuring Cups Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.

12. Foggy Windshield? Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!

13. Reopening envelope If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside , just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.

14. Conditioner Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair...

15. Goodbye Fruit Flies To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it 1/2" with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid, mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

16. Get Rid of Ants Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it "home," can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works.

17. INFO ABOUT CLOTHES DRYERS The heating unit went out on my dryer! The gentleman that fixes things around the house for us told us that he wanted to show us something and he went over to the dryer and pulled out the lint filter. It was clean. (I always clean the lint from the filter after every load clothes.) He took the filter over to the sink, ran hot water over it. The lint filter is made of a mesh material - I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like. Well,...the hot water just sat on top of the mesh! It didn't go through it at all! He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's what burns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's there. It's what is in the dryer sheets to make your clothes soft and static free -- that nice fragrance too, you know how they can feel waxy when you take them out of the box, well this stuff builds up on your clothes and on your lint screen. This is also what causes dryer units to catch fire & potentially burn your house down with it! The best way to keep your dryer working for a very long time (& to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out & wash it with hot soapy water & an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every 6 months. It makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long!

A Lil' quicky @ the garage sale day 1-

What I learned today on the first day of our 2 day garage sale event....

1. Get up early and get ready early.. people wait outside the door for you to open.
2. Don't waste your time pricing anything, make it up and make it high... a professional garage sale shopper knows how to negotiate!
3. Watch your stuff... we has a 3 year old thief today. I offered her a free toy and she took of with 3 free toys. Not that I care, but dang... they taught her young!
4. It can be so entertaining... we had 2 people a man and woman walk up at the same time. They were like power shopping, what she picked up he wanted and visa versa. The man immediately went and picked up a curling iron, a hair straightener, and a massager and started his stack on the couch we are selling... this lady saw him and in the midst of creating a stack of her own grabbed the hair straightener and paid for her stuff. I never thought twice, for all I knew they were together. She took off and he looked everywhere for that straightener, and even drove down our alley and turned back to look again. Sheesh, he wanted straight hair :)
5. Make sure you have music playing, it makes it all seem a little brighter!

We did sale a ton today which was GREAT! I am sure we will have some more great stories tomorrow, I will keep yah posted!

23 Months Old!

Travis is bringing in his last month in his 2nd year sick :(
with some silly head cold that is causing drainage and a fever...
I HATE TEXAS WEATHER!
One day it is 70 and the next 29 with an 18 degree wind chill... whats up with that?

In 1 month he will he 2 years old and I can NOT believe it!
He is such a little mess, and for sure acts ALL OF 2 YEARS OLD!
He talks a TON.. says a TON of words and even some sentences like:
Mommy, Where are you?
Mommy, Hold it! (it-- being me)
Get it, please!
Broken, get batteries.
(but its because we purposely took batteries out of some toys!)
and something new like these every day!

He mimics EVERYTHING you say, so the word filtering in our house is on HIGH!
His favorite show right now is the Doodlebops and man do those songs get stuck in your head. He LOVES book and we read 3 every night before bed and he for sure has his favorites.
He in really into cars and tools and loves to try and fix anything and everything he can put a screwdriver or hammer to! Just like his daddy :)
He does LOVE to color so I have to say that he got a little arty in his blood from his Momma!
We went to the doc today to get him checked out and these were his stats:
30lbs (same since 15 months)
between 75th-95th percentile for weight
36 1/2 inches tall (taller then a yard stick)
above 95th percentile for height
Big Man! He is gonna be my basketball star!
Just watch these!

I cant wait until his birthday...
I have heard 2 year old are a handful, but with every day that goes by the more fun we have hanging out.
I love that he is so good at communicating! We can almost carry on a good conversation!
