Let me tell you the story!
I scheduled the sono to check and see if Travis was in the right position to be born for the end of my 36th week for some reason, which was a dang good thing now that I look back on it. I hadn't felt Trav move very much the day before my sono.. just not his normal soccer kicks in my gut. A little too scary if you ask me. So at that appointment I was hooked up to a fetal stress test.. measure the babies heart rate, and after 45 minutes he had only 2 variables ( rises and falls in his heart rate) which wasn't to concerning BUT along with less fetal movement was something needing to be watched. The Dr. told me to chill out a little and if I still felt a little nervous about his movement in 24 hours to drink some caffeine, lay on my side for a hour and try and feel him.... after doing this Tues. morning, and not feeling what I thought was normal movement for the little guy., I called the Dr. I was immediately told to come in for a sonogram stress test (where they watch the baby for 30 minutes via sonogram) He scored 8/8.. Perfect BUT his movement was NOT up to par.. So My Dr. gave me 3 options.... 1. Have him immediately 2. Have an amnio, test his levels, find out if he is full term and have him after the results come in 3. come in every day for the next 2-3 weeks for a sono stress test... His advice was #2......
so within an hour we were in another Dr office getting an amnio.. (was not as bad as people say, and I am a wimp!) after the test I was hooked up to another stress test to listen to his heart and it sounded GREAT, but dropped into the "at risk" range twice... So, I was placed in labor and delivery (3rd time YUK) to have his heart monitored till 10 pm..... then another change.. his heart did it 2 more times.... all with in a 5 hour period. This worried us and the Dr's.. So a decision was made that after we got his results we were gonna have the little guy. The next morning the Dr. came in at 830, with no results... I was put on an iv anyways and started on saline solutions (which plumped me up so huge, I was soooo swollen, it was awful) at 9 am.. our results were 100% perfect, his lungs were great and I was getting my epidural 15 minutes later and 45 minutes after that he was here and he was PERFECT!
I can NOT believe this all happened a year ago.
It has flown by so fast and how Lucky am I to have such a healthy little boy!
