a year ago today....

A year ago today, right now at 715 pm, I was laying in a hospital bed scared to death....
Let me tell you the story!
I scheduled the sono to check and see if Travis was in the right position to be born for the end of my 36th week for some reason, which was a dang good thing now that I look back on it. I hadn't felt Trav move very much the day before my sono.. just not his normal soccer kicks in my gut. A little too scary if you ask me. So at that appointment I was hooked up to a fetal stress test.. measure the babies heart rate, and after 45 minutes he had only 2 variables ( rises and falls in his heart rate) which wasn't to concerning BUT along with less fetal movement was something needing to be watched. The Dr. told me to chill out a little and if I still felt a little nervous about his movement in 24 hours to drink some caffeine, lay on my side for a hour and try and feel him.... after doing this Tues. morning, and not feeling what I thought was normal movement for the little guy., I called the Dr. I was immediately told to come in for a sonogram stress test (where they watch the baby for 30 minutes via sonogram) He scored 8/8.. Perfect BUT his movement was NOT up to par.. So My Dr. gave me 3 options.... 1. Have him immediately 2. Have an amnio, test his levels, find out if he is full term and have him after the results come in 3. come in every day for the next 2-3 weeks for a sono stress test... His advice was #2......
so within an hour we were in another Dr office getting an amnio.. (was not as bad as people say, and I am a wimp!) after the test I was hooked up to another stress test to listen to his heart and it sounded GREAT, but dropped into the "at risk" range twice... So, I was placed in labor and delivery (3rd time YUK) to have his heart monitored till 10 pm..... then another change.. his heart did it 2 more times.... all with in a 5 hour period. This worried us and the Dr's.. So a decision was made that after we got his results we were gonna have the little guy. The next morning the Dr. came in at 830, with no results... I was put on an iv anyways and started on saline solutions (which plumped me up so huge, I was soooo swollen, it was awful) at 9 am.. our results were 100% perfect, his lungs were great and I was getting my epidural 15 minutes later and 45 minutes after that he was here and he was PERFECT!

I can NOT believe this all happened a year ago.
It has flown by so fast and how Lucky am I to have such a healthy little boy!

Wordless Wednesday

It's been one of those weeks already!

The Day After....

I went to see my OB/Gyn today to get things checked out... I got a sonogram and the craziest thing happened! The sono-tech, who has been working there ever since I have been seeing Dr. MacD, was looking through my file and told me that 1 year ago today at 3pm I had (what was suppose to be my final) sonogram when I was preggo with Trav. I was 36 weeks and they wanted to make sure he was head done ect... I thought that was kinda crazy! One year ago today I had absolutely no idea that I was going to see my son (in person) for the first time in 2 days from then.

Back to my appointment, The Doc checked out my sono and told me that though things looked ok now, that I did have a cyst rupture and he really thought it was more then one. He was saying that if he were to guess what had happened was that I had a cyst and another one was growing over it.. the bottom one was going to rupture and when it did the top one did also... OUCH! He said that I can resume a normal life as long as I am not in any pain, and thank goodness I am feeling fine!

Hopefully this will not happen again!!!! At least not any time soon!
Even though I would love to see those movie star firemen again, heeheehee!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND WORDS, EMAILS and E-CARDS!

My ER visit...

Another Dramatic experience in the life of Lindsay!
I woke up this morning feeling great at 745 and Trav was still asleep... I was able to eat breakfast alone (rare occurrence) and get ready before the little dude starting talking in his bed. I got him up and ready without one set back (another rare occasion!) We got to stroller fit early and seemed to be off to a great start... working out like normal and we were headed over to the part of the mall where we do wall sits an wall push ups and as we were on the way we started doing walking lounges... and I got a cramp. Right about where my c-section scar is and I decided to try and walk it out... I thought maybe I tweaked something. It subsided a bit, and I continued with a wall sit and fell to the floor... sat there for a few minutes with the weird cramp and then it went away again and so I continued on. (prob, not the best move for me) I turned to Pretty... a girl in my class and asked her to help me walk to the bench and told her to go on with class Trav and I were gonna take a little break. I thought it was just a cramp and it would just go away with a little rest. HA, was I ever wrong. It got worse and worse and I seriously thought I was going to rip in half the pain in my abdomen was so bad. I have had ovarian cysts before, the worst one rupturing about a month before I got pregnant with Travis... and it is the worst uncontrollable pain in the world. This was the same, so I kinda knew what I was dealing with. About the time when I figured I needed to call reinforcements (Gavin and my mom) Michelle ( my best friend) and Kristy (another girl in the class who is a nurse) came back to check on me... Kristy was asking me what hurt and how and said she thought I needed to call 911 and I agreed. In about 5 minutes the fire department (HOTTIES) showed up and took m y blood pressure which was REALLY low, they all though was strange considering I had just been working out... Finally as the ambulance got there so did Gavin... they put me on the bed thingy and wheeled me off. Gavin hung out with the girls for a bit, making sire Trav was going to be in good hands since my mom was heading up there to get him. Michelle, Kristy and Victoria ( my stroller fit instructor) hung out and watched Travis for us. The ambulance was an experience, I had been in one before when I was 19 after I had my tonsils out, but I do not remember much of that trip... They immediately put an iv in me and it HURT like no tomorrow!!!!! I had tubes all over me and oxygen in 2.5 seconds and we were off to the ER. I was having the hardest time, with ever bump I felt worse...but by the time I had gotten there I think I was a tiny bit better. I got into a room and saw 2 nurses and that's it for about an hour... no joke! The ER was packed! The Dr. finally came in and had no words of hope for me... said he was going to get a nurse and do a pelvic exam just to make sure it was a cyst rupturing... but he never came back. A nurse came in a bit after that and gave me some pain meds, but by then I was fine and didn't need them. Victoria came to check on me... I thought that was the sweetest thing EVER! After I realized that I was on the bottom of the ER totum pole I decided to take matters into my own hands and call my OB and get an appointment to get checked out... I go in tomorrow morning. I asked to be released and I have been home for a bit now. I feel fine, a little sore but that's all. The thing about ovarian cysts is that when they rupture it is immediate Awful pain that will subside after a while, and then you will just be sore.
***
On a sillier note, I gave Travis one of these little snack holders today with goldfish in it... to try out and see if he could figure out how to use it so maybe we wouldn't leave such a messy trail of baby snacks through the mall when we work out. I am not kidding, we crunch every time we leave a certain area in the mall, like after we have been in one spot doing an exercise, there will be a pile of Travis snacks under the stroller...my child throws more food then he eats! HAHAHAAAA, not only did my kid figure out how to use it, he figured out how to open the lip and whip the cup around and in less then a second the playroom floor was covered in a sea of orange goldfish. FUN STUFF! I think I am gonna let my furry vacuum (Sasha) come in here in a bit and clean up the mess for me! Gotta LOVE dogs!

Today....

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's.....
JUST A BUNCH OF NASTY DIRT!
There is a nasty wind storm in DFW right now, and when I say nasty I mean N-A-S-T-Y!
The sky looks orangy brown and if you open your mouth to say anything you will get a mouth full of dirt. Travis and i just went outside to say hi to some neighbors and noticed hat shingles were flying off of roofs, fences were falling over, swing sets were all flipped up... WOW, that is some strong wind! Of Course in the middle of all this junk I needed to get out and run some errands so... T and I went to Walmart to get some junk, toilet paper, diapers, formula (may be the last time we buy it... whole milk time!) and noticed these new AWESOME carts... They have Bob the Builder on the side and looks like a little SUV's with the cart on the top and still a seat for smaller babes. On the console of the inside of the car there was a little TV that plays a Bob the Builder cartoon.. HOW COOL IS THAT! It is gonna be DA BOMB! when Trav gets a bit older and we need to go shopping, too bad the grocery stores don't have them.
Since next weekend id Travis' birthday party and we are having a few friends and family over Gavin is in the back yard finishing up the deck.. when I say finishing up, I mean adding rails and then we will have a totally finished GORGEOUS deck. Now that T's party is in 1 week I am finishing up all the final details...I called and ordered a margarita machine for next weekend and the company I called was having a deal for only a little extra they would throw in a bounce house... ROCK ON! HECK YA! SOLD! I made sure to ask the lady if grown-ups can bounce in the bounce house and she said yep, so just wait I am sure I will get some hillarious pictures!
... all of this and I am still having a bit of anxiety...
My son will be 1 year old in 5 days..... FIVE DAYS!
OH MY GOODNESS!
It went by so fast! I can not believe I have a one year old!
well, I better stop typing a bunch of randomness and get to finishing up a template!
Later Gator's!

Random Act of Kindness....

Websters Defines Kindness as:
1. The state or quality of being kind, in any of its various senses; manifestation of kind feeling or disposition beneficence.
2. A kind act; an act of good will; as, to do a great kindness.

You may be wondering why I am defining the word kindness... because most of you guys reading this have your own idea of what this word mean, personal or not.

I got the sweetest email from someone who reads my blog as well as many others on my blogroll. She came to me with a request.... that I would help her with a wonderful random act of kindness (RAoK) and design a new blog template for one of her favorite bloggers. She went on to tell me that the blog owner has inspired her in many walks of life and that she feels that she wants to honor here with a new template. Deal is, she wants to remain anonymous! I was shocked and honored that she picked me to aid her in this venture...
So, I bet you are wondering who this RAoK is going to....

ITS.......... FLIP FLOP MAMMA!
So, you lucky girl (heeheehee!) just send me an email and we will get started!

Antique

My sweet grandmother gave me this antique ring as a wedding present. She had worn it for many many years and can not remember when exactly she got it, but the jeweler said it was a wonderful antique... I adore it!

Hi there! I am feeling like blabbing a bit!

Seems like things are finally getting better around our house! Travis slept 12 hours last night and took 2 great naps today... this has NOT happened in over a week. His 2 front teeth are shiny pearly whites and seem to be growing like a wild fire! The new decongestant the Dr. gave us is working wonders and his upper lip seems to be less chapped from the snot (sorry that is a gross word) today then it has been. I have been loading his upper lip up with Vaseline every night before bed in hopes that it will heal a little. He actually let his daddy put him to bed tonight... that is always a sign that he is feeling better when he lets go of me. Gotta tell ya, my left arm (where I hold him) is as strong as Super Man!

I have missed Stroller fit this week and I am having withdraws! Man, I miss it! I just don't want ANY other child to get this junk and if Trav's immune system is running on empty I do not want him to catch another thing. We would have to live in a protective bubble if that happened... I can see the headlines now. "OVER PROTECTIVE MOTHER MAKES SON LIVE IN A BUBBLE" hahahahahaaa I am so laughing at myself! And Yes, I need to buy some stock in Purell hand sanitizer!

Did anyone watch Grey's Anatomy tonight? I totally got my girly TV cry out for the next year! I was bawling like a baby... AHHH, they CAN NOT let Merideth die! Gotta say though, the end scene where she "saw the light" and Denny was sitting there talking to her... yah, a bit cheesy! Good thing Gavin had a soccer game this evening or he would have been laughing at me for crying over a TV show...but Hey, I feel like I know these people! I am so cheesy!!!!

My baby cousin (not so much anymore he is 14) and Aunt are coming in tomorrow from Arkansas (Your neck of the woods Lori!) I am so excited to see them and have them see Travis, it has been a while since they were here and he has grown so much! Brad (my cousin) was my first baby!!!! I adore that child as if her were my very own! I was 14 when he was born and immediately fell in love with him, right after he peed in my face. (he LOVES that story!) I will post pictures after this weekend... It is going to be GREAT, my friend Rachel is coming over to take Trav's 1 year pictures and Brad will be here, so you know I will have some special pictures done of my boys!

You gotta go check out some of my new templates.. Click HERE to see them!
I Have had SOOO much fun with the last few I have done! I seem to learn more with every one and amaze myself at times with how creative I can actually be! Sorry, not to be cocky.. but sometimes you just gotta be proud of yourself! And to think 11 months ago I had NO idea how to do any of this... I taught myself how to create these awesome templates... GO ME!
Ok, enough of that mess!

I finally got Travis' birthday invites in the mail! WHAT IS MY DEAL! I have had the hardest time with this party! I am having a really hard time with this 1 year old thing. My baby is gonna be a toddler.... AHHHHH! Unreal! Time sure flies, I just feel like in a blink of an eye he will be in kindergarten, then high school, then college, then married... OH NO! He is going in that protective bubble!!

I want everyone to know that I greatly appreciate all the love and support I received from my cyber family. Some times when you have things in your life that you can not control, like a sick baby, it is comforting to know you have support and love coming from all sides! I received the sweetest emails, comments and card (thank you Lori!!!) and yes I cried... but I think that is what happens when you get like 4 hours of sleep in 72 hours. You guys are the BESTEST!!!

One more thing... Travis had a hamburger, french fries and fruit cocktail for lunch... ( his very first FAST food hamburger!) Not whole of course, cut up into itty bitty pieces! He LOVED it!!!! I mean LOVED, he ate every single bite BY HIMSELF!!!! ( I had to add this because I cant stand to post without a picture!)

Ok, enough babbling!!
Hugs to you all!!!

Needin' some Prayers!

My poor little guy has been suffering from this nasty head cold, taking medicines (YUK) and at the same time cutting teeth... and then last night we added more stuff to the mix. At about 1230 Trav woke up screaming... Gavin and I laid there for a second thinking it was one of his little night terrors and that he would calm down and get back to sleep on his own. Nope, so I went in his room and picked him up to see if I could comfort him enough to calm down and get back to sleep. The second i got him in my arms I noticed he was grunting and his little body was tensing up and then calming down... my immediate thought was that he was constipated and it hurt so I took him into the kitchen to make him a bottle with an ounce of prune juice mixed in. Since I didn't turn the lights on in his room I didn't get a good look at him when I first picked him up, I was just going my feeling, so when I got in the kitchen and turned the light on I noticed he was really pale and sick looking. Them he started really grunting and I thought he was on the verge of throwing up and just fighting it... so I got Gavin up up help me and went back to Trav's room and held him tight with a blanket on us both just in case. Then he started shaking really bad and his coloring went from pale and sickly to blueish.. Gavin and I immediately got clothes on and grabbed what we could and got to the ER as fast as possible. Thank the LORD there was no wait... we practically walked right into a room and had nurses and doctors checking Travis out with in 15 minutes of leaving our house. His oxygen level was 100, blood pressure was fine... but he was grunting and blueish with a 102.3 fever... I have NEVER been so scared in my life. They put him to monitors and breathing treatments instantly and within about an hour he was calming down, fever was breaking and he was breathing without the grunts. He had x-rays done and was tested fro RSV and the FLU... both negative! They diagnosed him with Bronchiolitis. The scary thing is, we had gone to see the DR. at one yesterday afternoon and he looked at Trav's ears and said the antibiotic was curing them fast and listened to his lungs and said he sounded fine... We put Travis to bed at 730 like normal and he seemed fine, then he woke up that sick. With in 5 hours he completely turned from almost better to 100 times worse. We have a follow up appointment tomorrow morning to see if things are progressing. SCARY stuff!!!! On top of all of our mess the news said the other day that 97% of DFW is sick, that is a whole lot of people!
Well I wanted to give everyone an update!
PLEASE pray that my baby recovers fast and painless!
I will keep you all posted.

Weekend Update!

Where to start???
Friday late afternoon I took Trav to Acute Kids, its an after hours clinic for kiddos and he ended up having his very first ear infection. Not to shabby for being 11 1/2 months old! I was shocked considering I was taking him in for a runny nose that I thought was really nothing but teething but being the worry wart I am, I wanted to just double check. Much to my surprise he had an ear infection with no fever, no sign that his ear was hurting.. So, he got an antibiotic (Augmentin) and is now doing OK!
***
Saturday Night was our friend Larry's surprise 29th birthday party... called Larryfest by the guys putting it together. They gathered up pictures of Larry from being a little guy until now and plastered them all over out friend Eric's house. Hung them from the ceiling, all over the walls and even in the bathroom.... GREATNESS! He had NO idea there was going to be a party in his honor, he thought some guy friends were taking him to this really classy bar... SURPRISE! We all dressed up in the outfit he wears most often and gets made fun of... a button up white top tucked into blue jeans with a brown belt and boots (sometimes with the tongue sticking out of his boots not his mouth, silly!) and of course his glasses! One of my bestest friends in the WHOLE world (She is mine you cant have her!) stayed here with Travis so I could go and just see Larry be surprised... What a sweetheart! Check out the video of him walking in... They forgot to turn the lights on so I didn't think I got much recorded! I was so upset about it too because another great Friend of ours couldn't be there so I promised I would get Larry's face recorded... unfortunately you can not see his first reaction BUT you can see some great stuff... and check out all the pictures hanging right in front of the door and the silly crown and pimp mug he had to carry around all night!!
***
Sunday-we got up and got already to head to Oklahoma for Gracie's 1st birthday! Trav was on his medicine for 4 doses and still never had a fever so the Dr. told me that he would be able to be around other kiddos as long as we followed those orders and so we decided that we needed to go celebrate Grace's b-day with her! Travis did GREAT in the car for the 1 1/2 hour drive (napped almost the whole time!) and played like a rock star when we got there! He had a blast playing with all of Grave's toys and friends but had the BEST time ever on her little play slide.

( we are so getting him one for his 1st b-day!)
The party was a blast and all the kids and grown-ups had a great time! I have to tell you guys Lisa and Adam (Gracie's parents) have the BEST families ever.. they were all so wonderful! We headed home around 2 and Trav did great again except for the last 15 minutes he got antsy and so did I... But we made it home without any big fits and continued on with our Sunday evening...
I just finished watching the Grammy's and I LOVE Justin Timberlake, that boy is so talented!
Time for bed.. hope everyone had a GREAT weekend!

Today, what a day... Today! (**long post alert**)

I think my nutso of a day actually started last night, when I walked into the bedroom in the midst of telling Gavin a story about taking Travis on a wagon ride and called my kiddo Travin. I tend to do this often, mix up names of people... like our friends Rekha and Danny when I am talking about them I always say Dekha and Ranny.... Yah, silly huh?! There are also times when I will go through every name in our family to get to the one name I actually am trying to say... Gavin, Stanley, Travis, Stella and all I am wanted to say is Sasha.. NO! I can not imagine having more people in my household (yes, I am calling my animals people! don't you? ha!) I would be rambling off a hundred names before getting to the real one! So, all day today I could NOT get Travis' name out of my mouth the correct way! I called him Travin and Gavis all darn day! It was making my brain hurt!

Then I get a call at close to 1030 this morning from Jason's Deli. ( I should say 6 calls... yes I am serious!)

*ring* *ring*
Jason's Deli-
"Amy, this is Jason's Deli, we have your sandwiches ready for pick up."

Me-
" So sorry you have the wrong number"

*ring* *ring*
Me-
"Hello"

JD(a different person) -
" This is JD, we have your order ready"

Me-
" you guys just called, i am not Amy and I didn't order anything form you ... so sorry"

* ring* ring*

JD(3rd different person) -
" Hi Amy, your sandwich order is ready"

Me ( getting mad because Trav is asleep and i want to take a nap!)-
" Not to be rude, but you have called me twice already... do ya'll not communicate there? I am not Amy nor did I order anything from you.. You have the wrong number, so sorry!"

*ring* *ring*
I didn't answer this call but got a message
JD-
"Amy, this is the manager at Jason's Deli, your order is ready and you owe us $207... we would appreciate you coming and picking this order up or calling us back and letting us know what has happened. "

WHAT? HOW RUDE!
First of all my voice mail says this is LINDSAY not Amy.. and where did the customer service go? What if something bad happened to this girl? WOW, some nerve. They must have thought Amy was going to some extreme to avoid paying her bill.

HOURS later ( like at 430 this afternoon)
*ring* *ring*
Me-
"Hello" sarcastically!
JD-
"Amy, we have tried to call you numerous times today with no response from you about your order."
ME (annoyed)-
"hey now, take a breath... I am not Amy, you guys have called me way to many times. PLEASE put a note on her order that says the number is wrong."

10 minutes later
*ring* *ring*

Me-
"Hey Jason's Deli"

JD ( a very young voice) -
"Amy, we have been calling all day about this order"

Me-
" I am not Amy, and what do I need to do to get you to stop calling me? come up there with my drivers license and cell phone so you can call it and see that you are continuously calling the wrong person? Then write on her order form that she left the wrong number... I am so sorry you got scammed with a $200 order, but PLEASE STOP CALLING ME!"

JD-
"Let me get my manager"

* I just hung up!*
( and they haven't called back)

That Jason's Deli is the most persistent Unorganized restaurant EVER! I wonder if they though that this Amy girl was going to the extreme to avoid talking to them.... Making up a name, changing her vice mail message. Unreal!

On Top of my cell phone bill going up over some sandwiches my poor kiddo is getting like 6 teeth. 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom. He is miserable and so am I!!!! Poor guy cant sleep, eat, play, NOTHING! He just wants to be held all the time and at 24 lbs that is hard to do! My left arm is jello right now from lugging him around all day! I so wish I could take his pain away!
My pickle theory is still working! They seem to soothe the pain and I really think they may help with the swelling too!

Finally at 445 Gavin called and said he was on his way home... THANK YOU LORD! Poor man has not been home before 730 all week and has not been able to kiss his son goodnight. I know that it is hard on Gavin not being able to see his baby before bed but it is hard on Travie too. It broke my heart yesterday when I was getting him ready for bed and he was singing the Dada song... I think he does that when he is really missing his dada!
Gavin missed his soccer game to come home and put his son to bed. What an awesome Daddy!

Its 730... Travis is asleep, our Chili just finished cooking and our favorite shows are on tonight!
I hope my day ends quietly!
Nighty Night!
